Born to Michel Etchelar-Etchelar(1802-1882 Aldudes,France) and Marie Gariador (1819-1893 Urepel, France) in the Basque house Achurgenia, in the village of Urepel. He is buried in this cemetery with his sister Marie Aguerebehere (nee Etchelar). Arrived in 1878 where he farmed and raised sheep in the Ramona/Cleveland NF area of San Diego Co, California. Sept. 1900 he became naturalized under the name Juan Etchelar. He lived there until his ill heath, moving closer to his son John Poco and grandson Martin Poco. Passing away in the township Woodstock, Alameda Co, CA. His grandson Martin Poco paid for his funeral per Callegan mortuary records.His brother Pierre Etchelar alias Pete Borderre (1857-1904) was living in the Santa Barbara Co area and is buried in the Calvary Cemetery Santa Barbara CA.
