Education in Les Aldudes was conducted by the priests. One priest recognized his potential and pushed him very hard to study. He would go to sleep on many nights with a book in his hand. When his aunt Catherine Harriet offered to pay for his education at a school in St. Jean Pied de Port, he refused because he was already burned out from studying. |
