Russell Martin Maxwell, 60, Cheyenne, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Buffalo. He was father of Russell Martin Marty Maxwell Jr. and brother of Marci Buckley, both of Sheridan. Mass was celebrated this morning in Buffalo with burial there in Willow Grove cemetery. Born Aug. 16, 1948, in Buffalo to Vernon Whitey and Jeanette Maxwell, he attended Johnson County High School and South Dakota State University in Brookings. He also taught engineering classes at SDSU. Mr. Maxwell worked 27 years as a communications specialist with Union Pacific Railroad in Cheyenne. He loved the mountains, hiking, fishing, and reading. A brother, Danny Maxwell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a second son, Seth Adam Maxwell of Cheyenne; seven additional sisters, Mary Kay Stafford, Marilyn Maxwell, and Marti Markovsky, all of Buffalo, Monica Smithers of Arnold, Calif., Margo Trevino of Tracy, Calif., Melani Cole of Springfield, Mo., and Michele Peck of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two brothers, David Maxwell of Baltic, S.D., and Tom Maxwell of Beach, N.D.
