According to the Lalanne family tree on Ancestry.com, his parents were Jean Mesplou and Engrace Poutau, however, the records are missing in Feas for that year. More research necessary.

Census:
He was living on Sunset Ave in Rowland district with Bernard and Gabrielle Loustalot and family. He was 57 years old and single. He immigrated in 1888 and he was a laborer on a ranch.
Note: It said he was the father-in-law of Bernard but Gabrielle's maiden name is different and he would only be 13 years older. Unknown relationship at this time.

Catherine married Jean Felix Larronde on 30 Jan 1904 in Los Angeles, California. Jean (son of Baptiste Larronde and Marianne Elissague) was born on 04 Sep 1876 in Espelette, France; died on 24 Feb 1952 in Los Angeles, California. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

This is a drawing of the home on the original Mesplou farm originally located in what is now Torrance, a suburb of Los Angeles. The farm was bought in 1924 by Paul Mesplou who came to Los Angeles from Feas in 1907 and Catherine Estournes Mesplou who arrived from Arette in 1909. They met on Venice Beach and married in the Placita Church in the area of what was called Frenchtown in 1913.

The story is written by Dan Tomich, the oldest Mesplou grandson and illustrated by his son Jeff Tomich

Mother passed away on January 11, 2007 in the presence of her family. She was born, 8/14/16 in a house on Savannah St. in Boyle Heights to French immigrant parents, Paul Mesplou and Catherine Estournes. The family bought a farm on Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance in 1924 and Mom spent the rest of her life in the South Bay area. She graduated from Gardena High School, having lettered in all sports and receiving a Gregg Shorthand Achievement Award, in 1934. She married the love of her life, her classmate, Peter Radisich who predeceased her on 11/20/05, in 1937. Her children Claudine, Louis, Donald, Thomas and Steven as well as 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, remember Mom as a beautiful, quiet, gentle woman who lavished her children and husband with boundless love and affection. She was devoted to her home and family and gave them an appreciation for beauty, hard work, and respect for all people, and creatures of the earth. She loved her garden, feeding the birds and cooking for all friends and family. She was a member of La Societe Francaise de Bienfaisance Mutuelle. Some of her happiest years were spent as a volunteer and later as store manager for the American Cancer Society Thrift Shop in Inglewood. Joseph Paul Mesplou, born November 17, 1922 in Gardena, California, died November 29, 2010 in Torrance, California. The son of Paul and Catherine Mesplou, he was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Lou, his three sisters and brother, Henrietta, Germain, Yvonne, and Albert. He is survived by his children, Paul, Vincent, and Patrice and 6 grandchildren. Joe graduated from Gardena High School and attended Compton Junior College before being called to serve in the Navy during World War II. After discharge, he returned to earn an Accounting degree from Loyola University of Los Angeles. He was recalled to serve in the Navy for another two years during the Korean conflict. Following his last discharge from the service, he and Mary Lou returned to Gardena. He held a number of accounting and Controller positions with various organizations throughout the South Bay, retiring in 1987 following over 20 years with Teledyne INET of Torrance. Following his retirement, he gave much of himself as a volunteer with Little Company of Mary Hospital. Joe was a devoted father and grandfather, and made friends with ease. He could talk with anyone; making people he knew for an hour seem like lifelong friends. A Rosary will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 7:15 p.m. with the funeral Mass at St. Catherine Laboure on Thursday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts of memory be made to the Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation.
