    • Other Information: Jules was born in the south of France to Bernard and Anna Delpy. Upon completion of his education Jules left his native land and came to the US landing in New Orleans. In 1884 that same year he came to California where he learned the winery business from his uncle and at the latter's death he inherited 80 acres of valuable land. He ultimately grew the Delpy holding to 2,000 acres. The Ranch was located on Foothill and Vista Way known by locals as "Delpy Corners". Jules was very involved in the development of Vista. He was appointed to the 1st Board of the Vista Irrigation District in 1923. He operated the family winery "Buena Vista Winery" until it was closed in the 1920's due to prohibition. Jules was a successful farmer and an active and influential particiapnt in Vista's early development. In 1894 he married Maria Hauret. They had three sons Louis Delpy, Frank Delpy, and Jacques "Jack" Delpy.

He was born at the Delpy family home in Vista on July 5, 1902 and except for the times he was away at school or serving in World War II, he lived in Vista. He was one of Vista's earliest postmasters. Founded the first Chysler-Plymouth dealership in Vista, retiring 1956. He was a Life Member of Vista Elks Lodge # 1968. A long-time bachelor, Jack married Alice Rathner in 1953. He died March 8, 1980. He was survived by his wife Alice, son James Harrison "Jim", and daughters Jacqueline Cotton and Lisa Neirotti
