John Iriart, 74; A funeral service will be held here Friday for longtime West Side farmer John Pete Iriart. He died
Tuesday at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. He was 74. He was a tire shop owner and farmer for over 50 years in
the Tracy area and moved to Patterson 15 years ago. He was a native of California. He was a charter member of the
Tracy Elks Club, and past member and director of both the Tracy Golf and Country Club and the Banta-Carbona
Irrigation District, a member of the Turlock Golf and Country Club, a volunteer at the Westside Food Pantry, and was
affiliated with the Federated Church in Patterson. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hillview
Funeral Chapel. A service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Federated Church. Burial in the Tracy Cemetery will
follow. Survivors include his wife, Carol Iriart of Patterson; a son, Ray Iriart of Manteca; a daughter, Maryann Fischer of
Tracy; a stepson, James Knight of Waterford; two stepdaughters, Diana Impeartrice of Los Banos and Denise Knight of
Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Iriart of Corona; and five sisters, Grayce Wiseman and Kary Jane
Kruger, both of Riverside, Marjorie Dressler of Anaheim, and Katherine Pauley and Alyce Sazbo, both of Corona.
The family requests that remembrances be sent to the Westside Food Pantry, P.O. Box 1418, Patterson.

1930 Census records show her as being from Spain. Based on their mother's name of Sigoyenetchl (Cihigoyenetche) and my knowledge of this family being from that region, I have assumed her be born in Valcarlos. Further research necessary.

Notes:

His parents names were found on his marriage record in 1863 in Uruguay. Unable to find these individuals in France or Spain indexes. Family lore passed down a history that indicated Ignace was born to an unwed mother from Urrugne, France but his father was married to another woman. It is possible that the parents noted are really his parent who may or may never have married. The marriage record indicated that he was a "legitimate son" but that may be questionable. Further research necessary.

Marie Arambel, born 4/29/1796, daughter of Michel Arambel dit Etchevertz and the late Jeanne Etchart, in their lifetime farmers (fermiers) of the borde of Ernautene currently owners of the borde of Hurbelz.
Witnesses were Jean Chaharra 37 years old brother in law of the groom, Pierre Bidondo farmer 23 years old, Arnaud Etchart farmer 36 years old and Michel Arambel macon 56 years old.

Basque House:
Although originally they lived with her parents in the house of Borde de Hurbelz also possibly known as Bordaberry, they would later become propietaires of Lefranquenia. It appears as these names might all belong the same house. Further research necessary.
