He had a brother Jean Meillette who was born in 1868 in Lees-Athas. He immigrated to San Francisco and was married there to a Marguerite. They had a son. According to the 1900 census, Denis and Marguerite were living with them at their hotel in San Francisco.

Birth:
His parents were Francois Meillette, 35 years old farmer (laboreur) and Marie Jeanne Capdevielle, 32 years old housewife who were residents of Osse-en-Aspe at the time of his birth.

Denis married Jeanne/Jennie Etchemaite about 1900 in California. Jeanne/Jennie was born about 1879 in France; died on 20 Apr 1963 in San Francisco, California. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
