He would go to sleep on many nights with a book in his hand. When his aunt Catherine Harriet offered to pay for his education at a school in St. Jean Pied de Port, he refused because he was already burned out from studying.

He drove a small lunch truck around to various businesses. He was one of the first employees hired by this company which is a multi-million dollar company today.

- Occupation: 1977-1982; He returned to work for Orange County Food Service Co. to operate one of their larger lunch wagons. He enjoyed making specials at home at night and selling them the next day to the employees of the various companies he visited. His customers nicknamed him "Frenchy".
