He was married to Juana Narvais (former married name) and his sister was Catherine Samonset.
In 1890 he had a brother in the Tehachapi mountains.
He was scheduled to marry Jeanne Elisetche on 11/5/1890.
It was testified by Goytino that Samonset did not speak the English language, his native language was Basque. He also spoke French & Spanish.
In 1890, he was a sheepherder & owner - had business dealings with Pierre Elissetche - sold sheep when he became ill.
In 1890, he put $4,000 into a stable on Aliso St. He had 52,000 francs.
He testified that he played ball at Ordoqui's.
He had chronic congestion of the liver, occassioned with a hypochondriacal condition, nervous & despondent.
Dr. testified that he had been living in a sheep camp, living on meat and sour wine.
He wore a red silk hankerchief around neck whe he first went to visit Jeanne Elisetche.
He was arrested for the crime of seduction against Jeanne Elissetche, Catherine S. Escallier supplied money to his wife to pay fine.
